What to See and Do in Wunvzhou Resort

19:30 - 21:00
Exploring the Night Streets

The resort is home to architectural marvels, including the Hanging Golden Pavilion, a striking structure seemingly suspended in mid-air, glowing against the night sky. At the heart of the resort stands the Baoyu Pagoda, an elegant multi-tiered tower that serves as both a cultural landmark and a dramatic backdrop for the resort’s signature fire pot performances and iron flower fireworks. Visitors can wander through lantern-lit streets, explore intricate bridges and waterways, and experience the fusion of ancient traditions and modern theatrical spectacle.

21:00 - 10:30
Huohu Fire Pot Performances

The evening in Wunvzhou was filled with spectacle and tradition, each moment revealing a different facet of the resort’s rich heritage. Among the most mesmerising performances were the fire pot displays and iron flower fireworks, an age-old Huizhou tradition that combines martial arts, acrobatics, and fire manipulation into a truly breathtaking show.

🔥 Performers wielded iron nets filled with red-hot charcoal, shaking them in powerful, rhythmic motions to create dazzling showers of “blossoming sparks” that illuminated the night sky.

🔥 Dressed in fireproof suits, they moved with practiced precision, each fiery arc symbolizing the warding off of evil and the welcoming of peace and prosperity.

🔥 Recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage, this tradition dates back to the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), originally performed as part of New Year celebrations, when villagers danced with fire dragons and made offerings to ensure protection and good fortune.

21:30 - 22:00
The Hanging Golden Pavilion Fireworks Show – A Floating Palace in the Sky

One of the most jaw-dropping sights at Wunvzhou Resort is the Hanging Golden Pavilion (悬空金阁), located in the center of Wuxian Caishen Lake.

The pavilion appears to be floating in the air, like a golden palace suspended in the sky. At night, the structure glows under the lights and fireworks, creating an unreal, dreamlike spectacle. It makes for a perfect spot for photography – especially during nighttime performances!

🔥 Iron Flower Fireworks – A tradition dating back to the Qing Dynasty, where molten iron is hurled into the air, creating showers of golden sparks that dance against the night sky.

📸 Photography Tip: Be sure to arrive early to secure the best viewing area, directly ahead of the Baoyu Pagoda.

Day 2: Hanfu, River Rafting and Theatrical Performances

09:00 - 12:00
Hanfu Dressing & Photography

After breakfast, we visited Qing Shan Yan Yu Ke, Song Hu Yan Yu, and Xian Ran, three Hanfu styling shops in the scenic area, to dress in traditional Hanfu.

Hanfu (汉服) is the traditional clothing of the Han Chinese people, featuring elegant flowing robes, intricate embroidery, and timeless designs that date back thousands of years. Wearing Hanfu is not just about fashion – it’s a way to connect with Chinese history and culture.

Some locations offer on-site professional photography, ensuring you capture the perfect shot in your Hanfu.

Pro Tip: Choose flowing pastel colours for a dreamy, elegant look or bold reds and golds for a royal, striking appearance.

📍 Photo Spots:

  • Bridges & Waterways – Capturing graceful Hanfu silhouettes against ancient stone bridges.

  • Baoyu Pagoda Courtyard – A perfect backdrop for traditional portraits and group photos.

13:00 - 16:00
Jinshi Dock & Baoyu Pagoda

One of the most serene and picturesque experiences in Wunvzhou was the Hanfu river boat journey at Jinshi Dock. Dressed in flowing Hanfu robes, we stepped onto wooden boats adorned with cascading flowers, gliding along the tranquil waterways of Wunvzhou.

This experience felt like a scene from a classical Chinese painting, where delicate petals drifted on the water, and the reflections of Huizhou’s ancient bridges and pavilions shimmered beneath us. The gentle swaying of the boat and the soft sounds of traditional music in the distance added to the dreamlike atmosphere.

20:00 - 20:45
Meet Wuyuan – A Moving Performance of Love, War, and Triumph

Among Wunvzhou Resort’s many attractions, Meet Wuyuan (遇见婺源) is the crown jewel, an emotional journey that captures the heart and soul of the Wuyuan region.

Meet Wuyuan is a multi-sensory experience that celebrates the history, beauty, and culture of Wuyuan, Jiangxi. Through a fusion of art and technology, the show transports the audience through the province’s past and present, immersing them in war, love, tragedy, and triumph.

Why is the show so powerful?

Next-Level Storytelling – The show tells the story of China and its people, from ancient traditions to modern transformations, through breathtaking visuals and deeply emotional performances.

Actors Who Fly & Dance on Water – Performers float in mid-air, dance atop shimmering water, and interact with massive set pieces that appear out of thin air. It’s a spectacle that defies belief.

Mind-Blowing Technology & Set Design – Combining state-of-the-art lighting, projection mapping, and grand stage mechanics, the show creates a dreamlike atmosphere that pulls the audience into its world.

A Truly Moving Experience – Visitors have described the show as one of the most emotional performances they've ever seen. Many have been brought to tears by its sheer beauty, storytelling, and artistic mastery.
