New Brunch Menu at The Ritz-Carlton, Pudong in Shanghai

Featuring a wide range of flavours, satisfying textures, incredible scents, fine dining presentation and relaxing background music, The Ritz-Carlton, Pudong, has elevated and transformed their weekend brunch offerings to bring you a brand new concept and tantalising 5-course menu!

Named Sensi @ Scena, (Sensi being the Italian word for “sense”) you're invited to dine in the gorgeous 52nd floor restaurant in the hotel, where a breathtaking panoramic view of Shanghai's iconic landmarks awaits ... alongside a new Italian-Asian brunch menu.

While a chiefly Italian restaurant, this new brunch menu is inspired by Asian culture and flavours, and the multi-talented Chef Chris Gillino and his team have created a subtle and balanced blend of both Italian and Asian influences while ensuring all of their customers' senses are stimulated.

Taking you on a journey of culinary discovery through local and global flavours, dishes on the menu are set to change weekly, so you'll always be in for a delightful surprise every time you go. Take a look at what we sampled during our visit below!

STUZZICHINI

Buffalo Mozzarella Mouse with Cherry Tomato Coulis and Olive Powder

Steamed David Herve Oyster with Cucumber Twist

Foie Gras Terrine on Toast

All three of these items made for a light start to our overall meal, and each component complemented each other nicely. The mozzarella was incredibly smooth and light in flavour but contrasted by the tomato coulis; the steamed oyster was super fresh with a cucumber-flavoured foam that delighted our tastebuds; and the foie gras and fig on toast made for a rich and indulgent finish.

ANTIPASTI

68 Degree Egg with Asparagus, Ham, Truffled Cheese Fondue and Wheat Bread

Perfectly cooked eggs are always #brunchgoals for us, so this 68 degree egg was a dream to dive into. And who doesn’t love the combination of truffle and cheese?!

Farro Salad with Crispy Octopus and Lemon Dressing

The octopus was perfectly tender and charred, with a lemon dressing a really moreish and zesty kick.

Classic Beef Tartar with Pickles and Fries

There’s nothing more telling about how high-quality a meal is than a forkful of tartar. Quite possibly the best we’ve had yet as the beef was very well seasoned and finished with garnishes that added more complexity to the flavour.

PRIMI

Ravioli Stuffed with Cod Fish, accompanied by Crustaceans and Vinegar Sauces

This is where the presentation of a dish really encapsulated the concept of East meets West, with bamboo steamer baskets and chopsticks replacing plates and forks for our serving of ravioli! The cod filling to pasta ratio was wonderful, and the accompaniment of seafood and vinegar sauces to dip into allowed us to choose the type of flavour profile we desired.

SECONDI

Australian Pan-Seared Barramdi, Crunchy Turnip Chips and a Thai Sweet Chilli Sauce

An intriguing combination of texture thanks to the soft fish and crunchy turnip discs delicately laid on top of the fillet. The addition of the Thai Sweet Chilli was welcomed too, as it ensured a full-bodied finish.

DOLCI

Raspberry Cream with Soda Baby Tomatoes and Pistachio Sponge

For those who love a combination of sweet and sour flavours, this sweet treat is for you! While the pistachio sponge was delicate and light in flavour, it was expertly paired with bold additions of sweet raspberry cream, delicate chocolate nibbles and incredibly tart soda baby tomatoes - something we’ve never experienced before and would gladly do so again!

p.s. Chef Chris Gillino even produced the music that you will hear in the background while dining, which also takes inspiration from both Eastern and Western cultures to blend into the overall concept!
